This week was crazy-buzy. Monday was a holiday! On the 24 weekend I went to Toronto with my mom and brother for seeing my Grandma and Grandpa and Omi -- it was really fun! I have some awesome pictures, that I'll upload soon. Tuesday I finished up the programme for the spring concert - Wednesday I printed them, and decorated the auditorium . During class this week I worked on ad sales (no luck), and producing the Errol Lee concert.. I also started another spread - "Healthy Eating". The spring concert was on Wednesday - So we practiced all day long for Choir and Band. I sang a really nice rendition of "Ireland" from Legally Blonde The Musical. Thursday came along, and I worked on the Healthy Eating Spread, as well as the concept for Paris/Spain Spread. Friday Errol Lee came back to Korah.. I spent the whole day with him and his dancers.. doing the usual (fetching water, making sure everything is clean and where it needs to be, and PRODUCING! Of course). Next week I'll attach some pictures!
All-in-all this week was busy.

On top of that I also made the programme for the spring concert! Almost ready- Monday I'll finish it up! After next week, the craze will be over. Thank goodness! Friday I left school after second period.. Its the long weekend, I'm going to Toronto with my Mom and Brother to see our Grandparents and get TILE for our bathroom! Yay!

Photography TIPS!
For the next few weeks the yearbook class will be exploring and studying the wonders of photography-- and tips on better photos!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 1 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The tip of week 1 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Get down to their level".
Many subjects look better in a vertical portrait. People are more often taller than they are wider, and it can compliment a person more to take a vertical portrait. Other CVI's may be more vertical than horizontal, too. Landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower are better in vertical pictures. Below are a few pictures of this tip.

The tip of week 1 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Get down to their level".
This means that you position yourself and the camera at eye level of the subject. Below are 2 examples of my own photography using this tip.

The tip of week 2 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Use a Plain Background".
This means that when taking a photo, it is important to use a background that is simple so that the subject stands out. Below are 2 examples of when I have used this tip.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 3 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The tip of week 3 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Use Flash Outdoors".
This means that when taking a photo outdoors, it is good to use a fill flash to fill in the light for the subject. The outdoor light will fool the camera into thinking that there is enough light, when really, there isn't enough for the subject to be hi-lited. Below are a few examples of when I have used this tip.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 4 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The tip of week 4 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Move In Close".
The tip of week 4 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Move In Close".
This means that when taking a photo you should either digitally or optically zoom in to your subject (Optical is better). It is nicer to see a larger CVI than a small one. When the CVI is small, it is harder to determine what the actual subject is in the first place. Below are a few examples of when I have used this tip.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 5 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The tip of week 5 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Lock The Focus".
This means that you use the focus on your camera (sometimes manually on an SLR) to accentuate the CVI, in order to make a better photo. Below are a few examples of how I have used this tip.
The tip of week 6 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Move it from the middle".
This means that when taking a photo you should follow the "rule of thirds" where the photo is split up into nine sections respectively, and the CVI should go on the crossing points of the 4 lines. Below are a few examples of this tip.
The tip of week 7 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Know your flashes range".
This means that when taking a photo with flash, sometimes the flash will not reach all the way to the subject. This can be fixed by moving in closer, until the flash reaches- or getting a fill flash that reaches farther, though it is much better to move closer. If the flash does not reach the subject, the subject will become dark, and the photo is pointless. Below are a few examples of this tip.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 8 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The tip of week 8 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Watch the light".
The tip of week 8 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Watch the light".
Taking a picture outdoors (or indoors for that matter) can be made better just by making sure that your CVI is properly lit. Watching the light means that you are minimising shadows. For example, a picture of a person next to a tree on the side the sun is shining from, is better than a picture of a person on the other side of the tree, with a shadow on their face (unless that's the effect that was trying to be put in place by the photographer). Below are a few examples of "watching the light". The first example is great because it was lit very well, and the sun was directed at the CVI (my mom) instead of behind her. Sometimes, the photographer WANTS to have the light come from behind the subject, for a silhouette-type photo. The second photo is an example of this.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WEEK 9 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The tip of week 2 from Kodak's 10 Photography Tips for Better Photos is: "Be a picture director".
When taking a photo, the photographer should usually direct a picture. This means that they tell their subject (when it is human) exactly what they would like done. There are several times when this does not work- including when candids are being taken (a candid is an "action-photo"). Below are a few examples of when I was a picture director.

Week 15: May 10-14
This week was a mess of getting things done.
The "green" page was packaged this week, the grad spreads ate 98% done, the "boating" page is 1/2 done (still waiting for Dragon Boat pictures), the choir/band page is 1/2 done, and the search for Paris/Spain photos had begun. I've also made sure that everything for the Errol Lee concert in 2 weeks is going to go smoothly. I worked on yearbook/comm-tech things every day this week all morning (both periods). I feel like I got a lot accomplished this weekend. Whoo-hoo! Attached is the green spread, and the Errol Lee poster that I made. Next week we can package the grad pages (after I finish hunting down several grad write-ups)!

Week 14: May 3- 7
This week I got very close to finishing the Grad spreads. ALL I NEED NOW are 5 people to give me their write ups. It looks like I'm going on a wild goose hunt! AAH. This week I got to hang out with my friends alot. Thursday I saw Wizard of Oz done by the Musical Comedy Guild. The special effects were very... extravagant. And of course my best friends did an amazing job. Its too bad I didn't make it into this show, but I guess that's show business!
In class I also finished up my "green spread" except for a couple of names. I also made a NEW layout for yearbook so that we can know what pages are done and which aren't (because our layout sheet is a little ... busy and full. Basically all I did this week was finish those spreads. Wednesday while the rest of the class was taking "Pow Wow" photos, I was busy working on the grad spreads. Monday of this week was Music Monday. This means that every music student at Korah got out of class to sing/play a song called "Sing Sing" by Serena Ryder. While nearly every music student at Korah was participating, 3.5 other million people in the world were singing/playing this song at the exact same time. Music Monday is to show the education system that Music is a very important facet in education and every day life - and funding shouldn't be cut so short! Thursday of this week (for education week) we got to sing all day at the mall. We sang for 2 hours straight NON STOP! It was amazing. My favourite part was when the entire mall stood still while we sang a favourite of the Soo: Don't Stop Believin' which turned out amazing. I'm glad we went to sing at the mall to show how important music is in our lives.
Anyways... Attached are some pictures taken by other people of Music Monday and singing in the mall.
